Inspect Functional and Fashionable Fences
Most house owners have lovely fences surrounding their homes, and they have a variety of reasons for doing so. The reasons could be security considerations, reduction of noise, defining your own boundary, or a stylish addition to your home’s landscape. The variety of fences available, whether wooden or metal, should combine both function and style. When you are looking for a new house, your external home checking should also include checking the fences around. The house could be completely fenced or partially fenced, depending on your requirement and choice. If you want a completely fenced house, it is quite an extensive job and requires thorough inspection to see whether it is in a pristine condition or not. The condition of the fencing around the house adds to its beauty.
An exterior is highly susceptible to the vagaries of weather. The fences surrounding the home take the most beating from the sun, rain, thunderstorms, and this can lead to chipping and peeling of the paint. The house owner needs to paint the fences periodically for external beautification of the home. Heavy rainfall and thunderstorms could cause the fence posts to shift in the ground and making them unsteady. This could cause the fences to lean and sag. They could also cause the fences to topple, leading to injury to the people standing nearby. These conditions will require immediate remedy, and one will require the services of professionals to put the fences right.
Fencing the Swimming Pool
If you want a swimming pool in your new house, it is highly desirable that it is properly fenced. Periodic inspections may be required, including, checking the condition of this fence, as well. Ensure that all the fences, especially the ones surrounding the swimming pools, have proper and functional locks on the gates. This will ensure no accidents occur, where unsupervised children may wander around and fall into the pool.
Repairing the Fences
The inspections may show damaged and missing portions in the fence, sagging and leaning areas, and peeled and chipped paint. If the fence is a wooden one, you may find certain panels rotten. All these defects and damages may require immediate repairing.
A good paint job can take care of peeling and chipped paint, and other damages can easily be taken care by professionals. If the home has a metal fence, chances are that the fence may be rusted after being exposed to rain and thundershowers, over the years. These can be taken care of by scraping and a repaint job, turning the fence into its pristine condition.
If you do not have a fence surrounding the home you consider buying, you may need to consider installing one, just to add to the aesthetics of the home.
